Embark on an unforgettable adventure, walking on the ancient ice of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
This unique experience invites you to discover the mesmerising world of glacial formations, from deep crevasses to shimmering blue caves. Feel the crunch of ice beneath your feet and immerse yourself in an awe-inspiring setting unlike any other.
This journey begins early in the morning with a shared transfer, travelling approximately 70 km to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras—the starting point for our lake crossing. A short 20-minute boat ride across the Brazo Rico of Lago Argentino takes you to the foot of the Perito Moreno Glacier’s imposing southern face.
Upon arrival, you’ll take a short trek along the lakeshore before receiving a briefing on glaciology and safety. As you reach the glacier’s edge, the expert guides will assist you in fitting your crampons, marking the start of the exhilarating ice trek. For approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, you’ll traverse the glacial surface, marvelling at its dazzling blue hues, deep crevasses, and frozen formations sculpted by time.
After this extraordinary experience, you’ll make your way back through a Patagonian Andean forest, covering a scenic 3 km trail leading to a cosy refuge, where you’ll enjoy a packed lunch.
To conclude the adventure, you’ll return by boat across the lake and head to the glacier’s walkways, where you’ll have time to admire the breathtaking views before making your way back to El Calafate.
