Grade of difficulty of trekking and/or expeditions (*)

We have established the following scale of difficulty for our activities to help determine the physical and psychological exertion and skill necessary for each of them:

Easy
Moderate
Demanding
Difficult
Very difficult

Easy

  • Walks of 3 to 5 hours.
  • The use of porters is not necessary.
  • A gentle change in elevation (100 m to 400 m).
  • Lodging in Hostels/Hotels/Cabins and occasional camps.
  • Physical exertion is low.

Moderate

  • Walks of 5 to 8 hours.
  • Use of porters for general equipment.
  • Moderate to large elevation change (400 m to 900 m).
  • Lodging in Hostels/Hotels and camps.
  • Physical exertion is moderate.

Demanding

  • Walks of 5 to 8 hours.
  • Use of porters for general equipment.
  • In parts of the programme the client will have to carry his/her own pack of 15 to 18 Kg, sharing out the carrying of food and group equipment. (You can contract out more porters at an additional cost).
  • Moderate to large elevation change (400 m to 900 m).
  • Lodging in Hostels/Hotels and camps.
  • High physical exertion.

Difficult

  • Long walks of 8 to 10 hours.
  • The client must carry his/her own pack and at times part of the group equipment – 15 to 18 Kg. (You can contract out more porters at an additional cost).
  • Moderate to large elevation changes.
  • Lodging in camps or refuges.
  • High physical exertion.
  • Technical mountain experience is not necessary.
  • Experience in trekking and camping is necessary.
  • Physical training previous to the programme is recommended.

Very Difficult

  • Long walks of 8 to 10 hours.

(*) The level of difficulty has been calculated for people who are in a good state of health but without that much experience in mountain activities, taking into account the variables of distance, elevation change, technical difficulty and variable weather conditions, etc.
