We pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate for the 80 kilometre journey that takes us to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The drive takes us on a beautiful route around the edge of Lake Argentino, with time for a couple of stops for photographs along the way. In addition to the stunning landscape, it is not unusual to see condors or eagles over-flying the area.
During the journey, the guide tells us a bit about the history of the region and its life and customs, about the National Parks and the glaciers, particularly the star attraction, the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Upon arrival at the National Park, there is the opportunity to explore the walkways, which offer incredible views every step of the way.
Each corner gives you the chance to enjoy the glacier from a different unique angle. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a few ice falls.
It is impressive to see how the gigantic blocks of ice come away from the glacier and hear the thunderous roar as they fall into the lake. These events can cause large waves on the lake.
For an up-close look at the southern face of the glacier we are going to take a 1-hour navigation. The vessel sails slowly along the south face of the glacier, making frequent stops to allow you to marvel at its fascinating shapes and spectrum of colours. This is your chance to admire this mass of ice in the most unique way. This boat trip allows you to enjoy the impressive face of the glacier from a totally different perspective. It is an indescribable feeling.
At the end of the excursion we return to El Calafate and drop you off at your hotel
