Rock climbing in El Chaltén

In Walk Patagonia we offer you the possibility of giving your first steps in the rock climbing world; in the hands of the experts: professional mountain guides certified by the AAGM (Asoc. Argentina de Guías de Montaña) and EPGAMT (Escuela Prov. de Guías de Alta Montaña y Trekking). Is an activity designed for those who have a basic level and want to improve or be reminded of the basic. An activity full of adrenalin, in one of the climbing mecas of the world!

Day 1

The rock climbing school can take place either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on your free time and the weather conditions. It’s about 4 hours of class on various routes, located near to El Chaltén, depending on your level.

In general, mostly for the real beginners, we use the “top rope” system, whereby the guide leads the route, and sets up a rope from above, so as the climbers are always attached and safe, affording maximum safety for them. The aim of this activity is for the climbers to learn the basic concepts of rock climbing, security equipment, and its use.

Includes:

  • Mountain Guide (AAGM/EPGAMT-APN)
  • Technical equipment: Harness, helmet, rope, carabiners, quickdraws, climbing shoes.
  • First Aid Kit.
  • Meals: Pack lunch/ Hot drink – “mate”.

Doesn’t include:

  • Personal equipment (check recommended Kit List).
  • Insurance.
  • Gratuities.
  • Anything not mentioned in the programme.
