Since the white man arrived in Patagonia, riding a horse has been his way of working, travelling and exploring. So why not try riding a local horse? Just like the old times! Enjoy unique landscapes; the Patagonian steppe, mountains, forests and glacially formed valleys in one of the wildest areas on earth.
The options are:
- In the mountains:
A half day of horse riding on Bonanza estancia, near El Chaltén.
- On the Patagonian steppe:
A half day of horse riding on La Estela estancia, Route 40, between El Calafate and El Chaltén.
We pick you up from your hotel in El Chaltén and drive out to Estancia Bonanza, 12km away, on the unpaved road heading for Lago del Desierto. There, we cross over the Río de Las Vueltas on a hanging bridge to where we meet the gauchos who will help us with the horses. We take the reins and our adventure begins!
We go through native forests and are able to enjoy typical views of this mountain area and also fantastic views of Mt Fitz Roy.
At the end of the ride we’ll enjoy a couple of mates (typical Argentine hot drink) together. Drop off at hotel
