These are two of the least difficult hikes that we can do in El Chaltén.
It is the ideal spot for people who arrive at midday and want a short walk to understand the geography of the area, or an ideal panoramic point for photography lovers seeking to capture the spectacle of dawn in the mountain range.
The journey begins as you meet the guide at your accommodation, setting off towards this hike that starts by crossing the Fitz Roy River bridge.
The gentle and gradual ascent takes approximately 40 minutes, leading you to the Cóndores Viewpoint. From this privileged spot, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the majestic mountain ranges of the Torre and Fitz Roy groups, the winding valley of the Río de las Vueltas, and the charming village of El Chaltén.
The tour continues with a 30-minute walk along flat terrain to reach the Águilas Viewpoint. Here, a spectacular contrast awaits: the deep blue waters of Lake Viedma framed by the vast and unparalleled Patagonian steppe.
After a well-deserved break and ample time to savour and photograph these breathtaking landscapes, you’ll make your way back to the village along the same trail, offering a fresh perspective on this dreamlike scenery.
