An insight into rural life in Patagonia, in the heart of the region’s quintessential scenery: mountains, glaciers and the steppe par excellence.
We’ll be picked up early in the morning from our hotel in El Calafate. After travelling for 60 km along a dirt road known as “Camino de las Estancias”, we reach the Estancia Nibepo Aike ranch, in the southern part of the Park.
Here, we’ll watch a shearing demonstration and learn about the daily gaucho routine.
After enjoying a delicious, traditional lunch with salads, Patagonian lamb, fine wines and a crêpe with dulce de leche, we’ll sail towards the Brazo Rico to disembark at the Playa de las Monedas beach, where we take an easy hike through the lenga beech forest. We’ll visit a glacier lookout point only frequented by people doing this excursion.
We return to the boat to sail close to the southern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier while sipping on whisky with ice from the glacier and enjoying some chocolate.
We then disembark to head to the glacier walkways, to view the other faces and witness ice calving, in the afternoon, when there are fewer visitors. We then return along a paved road to El Calafate and are dropped off at our hotel.
