An exceptional adventure day, combining kayaking and trekking in a fascinating setting. You will paddle through the glacial waters of the La Leona River and have the opportunity to explore Cerro Los Hornos, one of the oldest rock formations on the planet.
A shared transfer will collect you from your hotel in either El Chaltén or El Calafate and take you to Parador Luz Divina, where you will meet your guide and the rest of the group. After gearing up in dry suits and receiving a brief introduction to paddling techniques and group communication, you’ll set off on a thrilling 14 km kayak journey down the La Leona River.
Midway, we will pause for a two-hour trek on Cerro Los Hornos, where you can discover ancient marine fossils and remnants of a petrified forest—a fascinating glimpse into Patagonia’s prehistoric past.
Afterwards, we’ll return to the kayaks and complete the route to Arroyo Turbio, where a transfer will be waiting to take us back to El Calafate.
