A perfect challenge for mountain beginners, or for those who wish to reach their first summit in Patagonia, and delight in one of the most marvellous views in the world: valleys, colourful lagoons, glaciers and the majestic Mount Fitz Roy.
For the ones that have time enough, we suggest the ascent in two days “Cerro Madsen Ascent”
You will begin this journey with your guide in El Chaltén, with a hike that will immerse you in beautiful landscapes as you head towards the Río Blanco area, from where you will start a challenging ascent towards the iconic Laguna de Los Tres. From there, you will already be able to see the upward path that will take you to Cerro Madsen, located on your right.
The terrain constantly changes, shifting from rocks to snow, which will require you to use crampons, helmets, and harnesses to ensure safety at all times. Your guide will carry a safety rope, which will only be used if necessary, giving you additional confidence as you progress.
After about three hours of effort and dedication, you will reach the summit. The final stretch involves low-difficulty vertical climbing (grade four), but the reward upon arrival is beyond words: an impressive panoramic view of the entire mountain range that surrounds us.
In the afternoon, you will return to El Chaltén, passing by the famous Laguna Capri.
