A fun packed day of adventure and adrenalin! From enjoying trekking on little used trails to traversing a steep cliff using bolts and harnesses on a vía ferrata, to ice trekking on top of the Cagliero Glacier. Perfect for those looking for a physical and strenuous challenge!
After a 30-minute transfer to Los Huemules reserve you start trekking through a beautiful Lenga forest along the valley basin of the Diablo river valley. The trail rises gently, so the trek is not tiring. After about 2.5 hours we arrive at the Diablo lake and where the adventure part of the day begins!
We put the helmet and harness and will receive a safety talk about how to use the metal bolts and cables on the rock face safely. After about an hour of climbing, sliding and crawling we will arrive at the Cagliero glacier! Here the guides will put crampons on to our footwear and we’ll go through the basics of ice trekking. Depending on the weather and the physical abilities of the group will depend how long we are on the glacier. It will be around 1 hour. We’ll have regular short pauses where we’ll be able to eat a snack or lunch.
You’ll have time to take photos and enjoy this unique experience of standing on top of a glacier in one of the most remote areas of the world. At the end of the activity you will start the journey back to El Chaltén. First of all via ferrata, then the trek back to the entrance and finally the transfer back to town. This will be an exhausting but extremely rewarding day!
