Paso del Viento

The Southern Patagonian Ice Field is the third largest ice mass on the planet, after Antarctica and Greenland.
Paso del Viento is one of the gateways to the Continental Ice Field and serves as a privileged natural viewpoint to appreciate the vastness of this unique landscape.
This three-day tour is designed for those who wish to enjoy breathtaking views while trekking through forests, moraines, scree fields, and remote wilderness camps, in full contact with nature.

Day 1
Laguna Toro

You will set off on foot from El Chaltén, hiking through forests and grasslands while enjoying stunning views of Viedma Lake. The trail then leads into the Túnel River Valley.

You will arrive at Laguna Toro, where you will set up camp for the next two nights.

– Walking time: 7 hrs

– Elevation: 250m gain

Day 2
Paso del Viento

In the morning, you will begin your ascent, crossing a river before gradually gaining altitude until you reach Paso del Viento. From this vantage point, you will take in breathtaking views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the source of the Viedma Glacier, and Cerro Mariano Moreno.

You’ll have the chance to walk on the glacier, enjoy lunch in this incredible setting, take photos, and regain energy before returning to Laguna Toro for a second night.

– Walking time: 7/8 hrs

– Elevation: 900m gain

Day 3
El Chaltén

You will return to El Chaltén along the same trail, rewarded once again with the impressive views of Viedma Lake.

– Distance: 15 km

– Walking time: 6 hrs

– Elevation: 250m drop
