Birdwatching Laguna Nimez

Laguna Nimez is a natural reserve nestled on the shores of Lago Argentino. This remarkable area plays a vital role in the conservation of birdlife, offering a safe haven to a wide array of resident and migratory species, and a true paradise for nature lovers.

Day 1

The journey begins with a private transfer from your hotel, where the guide will greet you and take you to Reserva Laguna Nimez.

Once there, you’ll embark on a scenic 3-kilometre walk through the reserve. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to pause and observe the diverse wildlife and learn about the various ecosystems that thrive in this protected area. As you stroll, you’ll encounter five distinct natural environments: the wetlands, shrub steppe, reed beds, the shores of Lago Argentino, and the floodable grasslands. Each offers a unique glimpse into Patagonia’s rich biodiversity.

For birdwatching enthusiasts, two strategically placed hides are dotted along the trail, providing the perfect spots to quietly observe and appreciate the many bird species that inhabit the reserve.

Your walk will culminate at the shores of Lago Argentino, where you can take in the serene beauty of the lake and surrounding landscapes. From there, you’ll make your way back to the starting point, where the guide will accompany you back to the hotel, with unforgettable memories of Patagonia’s wildlife.
