Petrified forest La Leona

Join us on an extraordinary journey through time as we explore the fascinating world of petrified forests and the giant dinosaurs that once roamed this land millions of years ago. A proposal for paleontological tourism takes you deep into the Patagonian steppe, offering a unique experience for those who love nature and wish to discover one of the region’s most intriguing landscapes.

Day 1

A shared transfer will collect you from your hotel in either El Chaltén or El Calafate, taking you to Hotel Parador La Leona. There, you’ll meet your guide and the rest of the group before continuing along a gravel road to reach the palaeontological site.

Upon arrival, you’ll set off on a fascinating exploration walk through a landscape filled with ancient fossils. Scattered across the surface, you’ll find petrified tree trunks dating back 70 million years, some measuring up to 1.2 metres in diameter. You’ll also come across fossilised remains of various species of dinosaurs that once inhabited the region.

Midway through the trek, we’ll pause to enjoy lunch in this otherworldly setting.

After completing our exploration, we’ll return to Hotel Parador La Leona before continuing the journey back to your accommodation.
