A perfect challenge for mountain beginners, or for those who want to reach their first summit in Patagonia, and delight in one of the most marvellous views in the world: valleys, colourful lagoons, glaciers and the majestics Mount Fitz Roy and Torre.
An ascent designed in two days to fully enjoy contact with nature and be able to choose the best weather conditions to reach the summit.
Your adventure begins in El Chaltén, accompanied by your guide, with a hike through stunning landscapes leading you towards the Río Blanco valley. From there, you’ll begin a demanding ascent towards the iconic Laguna de los Tres. Once at the lagoon, the uphill path to Cerro Madsen becomes clearly visible to your right.
The terrain changes constantly, shifting between rocky ground and snow, which will require the use of crampons, a helmet, and a harness to ensure your safety at all times. Your guide will carry a safety rope, to be used only if necessary, offering extra confidence as you progress.
After around three hours of effort and determination, you’ll reach the summit. The final stretch involves an easy, low-grade vertical scramble, but the reward is simply breathtaking: a sweeping panoramic view of the majestic mountain range that surrounds you.
In the afternoon, you’ll begin your descent towards Poincenot base camp, where you’ll spend the night immersed in the peace and beauty of the mountains.
