El Chaltén is located in the Cordillera de los Andes, a 430 m.a.l.s., where prevailing winds blow throughout the whole year in the northwest quadrant. In the summer the weather is cool, windy and very variable; the average temperature is 18 °C but can reach 30 ºC maximum and a minimum of 5 °C. The winds sometimes can reach gusts of over 150 kilometers per hour.
