Discover El Chaltén through its flavours, its stories, and the people who bring this mountain town to life.
Created by Walk Patagonia, this guided experience combines local cuisine with pioneer tales, everyday anecdotes, and the unique character that defines Patagonia.
The tour begins at our Walk Patagonia office, where a traditional tasting sets the tone for the experience. Here you’ll hear how El Chaltén—once the youngest town in Argentina and still one of the youngest in the country—was founded, shaped by climbers, dreamers, and a community that grew at the foot of the Andes.
From there, you’ll visit a curated selection of our favourite local spots—each offering a signature tasting that reflects a different side of El Chaltén. Expect a mix of traditional flavours and contemporary creations, paired with small pours of craft beer or regional wine and the stories behind the people who make them.
Along the way, you’ll meet the personalities behind the town’s food scene, discover what life is like in a remote mountain village, and enjoy dishes that highlight both heritage ingredients and modern Patagonian cooking.
The experience wraps up with a sweet local classic, leaving you with a true taste of El Chaltén’s spirit.
More than just a tasting tour, it’s an intimate encounter with the culture, creativity, and community that define life at the foot of Fitz Roy.
