Day 1: Arrive into Puerto Natales

Day 2: Visit the Torres of Torres del Paine

After an early breakfast, you leave Puerto Natales heading towards Torres del Paine National Park. After arriving in the park you begin a gentle walk up Almirante Nieto, a mountain that takes you to an incredible view of Lake Nordenskjold and the Asencio Valley. You arrive at Camp Chileno a few hours after lunch. This is where you spend the night, so you can check into the refugio and put your things into your tents, before continuing on the hike. After a short rest in Chileno you hike for one hour through a dense lenga forest. After leaving the forest, you approach a moraine and climb to see the amazing granite peaks known as the Torres. After admiring the view you return back to Chileno to have dinner and to sleep.

  • Difficulty: Medium/High.
  • Duration: 6 hrs.
  • Distance: 16 Km
  • Height drop/gain: 950 m.

Day 3: Hike along Lake Nordenskjold

In the morning you have breakfast and then prepare to hike again. You leave Camp Chileno and walk for four hours towards Refugio Cuernos, which is located on the coast of Lake Nordenskjold and at the foot of the impressive Cuernos of Paine. Along the way you border Almirante Nieto and pass by Lake Nordenskjold. You have to cross a few rivers by hopping across rocks and you will also catch views of glaciers upon the mountain tops that are hanging above you. Finally you see the Cuernos; impressive granite peaks. You spend the night at the foot of them after a breath taking day of trekking.

  • Difficulty: Medium.
  • Duration: 6 hrs.
  • Distance: 14 Km
  • Height drop/gain: 850 m

Day 4: The French Valley

Shortly after breakfast you begin hiking towards Camp Italiano. This camp is just two easy hours away. You trek across a windy beach and finally escape into the valley and find that the wind is a little calmer. After two hours of hiking you leave your backpack at Camp Italiano and continue into the French Valley with just a small day-pack. You hike across a moraine and through a forest until you finally come to a clearing. Here you will be blown away both by the wind and by the spectacular views of Lakes Nordenskjold, Skottberg and Pehoe, the breath taking hanging glacier, French Glacier and by many of the peaks that surround you. Today you will understand why this park has become so famous. After leaving the lookout you return to gather your backpacks and continue to Camp Paine Grande where you spend the night.

  • Duration: 8 hrs.
  • Distance: 24 Km.

You will be able to experience the wind coming off the Southern Ice Field and see both the ice field and Glacier Grey! You continue walking for 2 more hours until you finally reach Refugio Grey, which is tucked away in a small valley in a wooded area that is protected from the wind. You check into the refugio and then have time to continue towards Glacier Grey. If you like you can get up close to the Glacier at Camp Guardas or you can rest on the beach!
